Have the pleasure of inviting you to the
FIRST PLENARY OF THE SPANISH ENERGY MIX FORUM (SEMF)

Madrid, 20 January 2012
Salón de Actos de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales
Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
C/ José Gutiérrez Abascal, 2, Madrid

The Spanish Forum for the Social Dialogue on the Energy Mix (Spanish Energy Mix Forum, SEMF) is launched with the participation of the European Commission and the support of the European Economic and Social Committee and a wide range of organisations from the energy field. The objectives of SEMF are:

- to promote a structured national debate on the different energy sources in Spain, and in particular, on low carbon energies;
- to analyse the economical, technical, environmental and socio-political aspects associated with the different sources of low carbon energies;
- to involve all stakeholders in the energy field in a platform for dialogue on the key aspects for a sustainable energy mix in the medium and long term;
- to become a pilot experience in the European Union for other countries to initiate a dialogue on the energy model in Europe and in other Member States.
This first plenary has the aim to organise a platform to discuss, in an open and transparent manner, the different aspects of the energy mix at national level: technical and economic aspects, environmental issues and the current model energy-society. In light of the changing political and economic factors in Europe and Spain, some reflections can be made regarding the development of different energy options in order to seek a low carbon alliance.
